New staff reward scheme launched
The new scheme is up and running and is supported by the Friends of Worthing Hospital. Staff who go above and beyond can be recognised for their efforts with this reward card. The first one was handed out this week (November 2024).
The Garden is Open!
Official opening by Stephen Mardlin, the Worthing Site Director on Friday 22 March 2024. A big thank you to everyone who made this happen.
Our Cafe and Shop
Vending Machine
The hot drinks vending machine is now situated by our shop. The vending machine is available to staff, patients and visitors 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by the shop in the North Wing. And no cash – well do not worry it is card operated. We hope everyone can now enjoy the opportunity to have a hot drink anytime for £2.50.
Cafe and Shop News
Ward Trolley. Our ward trolley service is now running on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings, normally by our recently recruited team of cheerful and hard working volunteers.
We are looking at ways of further enhancing this service during 2024.
Warm Snacks. We now provide a small range of warm snacks including sausage rolls and warm breakfast bowls.
Loyalty Card. If you are a regular user of our cafe do not forget to pick up your free hot drinks loyalty card.

2024 Annual General Meeting
The Annual General Meeting to review the 2023 Annual Report for the League of Friends took place at 6.30 pm on Monday 10 June 2024. The meeting took place at Salvington Community Centre.
The Chair and Treasurer presented their reports and there was some discussion on a range of issues impacting upon the Charity. The key one was to review and update our Constitution. This included becoming a CIO under the auspices of the Charity Commission and exploring the option to move to a “Foundation” rather than an “Associate” model of working.

Christmas Day Presents 2023
The League of Friends provided more than 650 presents to be handed out by hospital staff to inpatients on Christmas Day.
We always receive numerous thank you notes, emails and donations as a result of the year’s presents. A few examples were:
“Thank you for the gift bag given to my husband on HDU, such a lovely surprise and thoughtfull” Donation £40
My… “Wife in hospital on Christmas day and received a lovely gift from you. It made her day when she was feeling low. Thank you for what you do.”

Cafe seating area reopens

New Trolleys in Service
Ward TrolleysAt last the new trolleys are in service. Following a request from the hospital the Friends have been able to fund 12 new emergency trolleys for use around the Wards. Staff say they are a huge help. Nurse "Anonymous" said she found the range of equipment...
